The Work
Phillis Wheatley: A Musical Journey is a narrated orchestral showcase tracing the remarkable life of Phillis Wheatley, the first person of African descent to publish a book of poetry in the American colonies.
Designed to engage audiences through music and storytelling, the work can be presented on traditional orchestral programs as well as family, educational, and historically themed concerts. Performances can incorporate visual elements or be presented simply with orchestra and narrator.
